Deliveroo has partnered with US firm Coco Robotics to bring autonomous delivery robots to Canary Wharf starting this month, in what marks Coco's first entry into the UK market. The robots navigate pavements at walking pace using cameras, sensors and AI. Milton Keynes, Leeds, Stockton-on-Tees and Nottingham are set to follow in the coming weeks and months.

Canary Wharf customers can initially order from Patty&Bun, bakery Signorelli and cafe Beam, with Ole & Steen, Royal China and Din Tai Fung joining later.

Deliveroo CEO Miki Kuusi said London was the 'fitting' launch city given it is where the brand was born, with plans to expand the exclusive Coco partnership nationwide.

Deliveroo says it 'firmly believes' robot and drone technology should help high-street businesses of all sizes stay competitive and meet rising consumer demand.
