Deloitte boss gets a 45% pay rise to £7.1m after the firm cut 1,000 UK jobs

Richard Houston's pay now stands at 93 times Deloitte's median UK employee, up from 65 times a year earlier and 35 times in 2021. His package has risen from £2.9m in 2021 to £4.9m in 2025. The firm's average UK workforce fell by 1,360 to 15,904. Houston was promoted in June to run a new EMEA entity covering more than 80 countries.

Houston's package includes a £1.3m one-off award on top of a £5.8m profit share.

He is now the best-paid Big Four boss in the UK, ahead of PwC's £4.8m chief.

Under 'Project Maple', new equity partners get 80 profit units instead of 100.
