Deloitte boss's pay jumps 45% to £7.1m while the Big Four giant's UK workforce shrinks by 1,360
Richard Houston now earns 93 times Deloitte's median UK worker, up from 65 times a year ago and just 35 times in 2021. His package includes a £5.8m profit share plus a £1.3m one-off award tied to European targets. That makes him the best-paid UK boss in the Big Four, well ahead of PwC's Marco Amitrano on £4.8m. Meanwhile, new partners are seeing their profit shares cut.
In June, Deloitte moved to axe nearly 200 UK audit jobs, blaming low staff attrition.
Under 'Project Maple', new equity partners get 80 profit units instead of 100.
Houston was promoted in June to run a new EMEA arm spanning 80-plus countries.
