Democratic donors say Kamala Harris 'totally blew it' as she fuels 2028 speculation with a campaign blitz

Kamala Harris is taking her late-autumn campaign tour through five states central to the 2028 early primary map — Nevada, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Mississippi and Georgia — with dates running from 21 to 30 October, stoking speculation about another presidential bid. Yet interviews with close to 20 Democratic donors and strategists suggest she has thrown away her best chance to reshape her image since the 2024 loss. Doug Emhoff is said to be opposed to her mounting another campaign, while adviser Maria Cardona dismissed the criticism as 'infuriating in its silliness'.
Obama strategist Doug Herman said Harris 'totally blew it' and 'hasn't gotten into the mix.'
Jim Hodges, South Carolina's former governor — whose state heads the 2028 nominating calendar — said: 'I don't see anything different — it seems like more of the same.'
Laurie Black, a San Diego donor and longtime Harris supporter, said: 'I just don't know if the vice president has the juice this time.'
