Dennis Haskins had hidden an eight-year battle with Parkinson's disease, telling close friends he simply did not know what to say to fans about his condition. His agent Jay Schachter called it "a tragic loss," saying Haskins "absolutely LOVED his fans" and always had time for them. Co-star Lark Voorhies, who played Lisa Turtle alongside him for nearly four decades, said losing him "hurts so deeply."

Dimples Karaoke bar in Burbank, his second home, revealed the Parkinson's secret after his death, saying it had stayed quiet to respect his wishes.

Haskins earned the nickname 'America's Favourite Principal' for his role as the exasperated Mr Belding, whose catchphrase 'Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here?' became iconic.

He is survived by his son Dustin Haskins; his final public appearance was at a Los Angeles basketball game in December 2018, nearly eight years before his death.
