North Korea has positioned a self-propelled 122mm howitzer near the border, with three armoured vehicles pointing south, after denying responsibility for mines that injured three soldiers.

North Korea has moved three armoured howitzer vehicles to positions clearly visible from a South Korean border observatory, with gun barrels pointed south toward the DMZ. Military expert Yang Uk of Seoul's Asan Institute for Policy Studies called it "a display of firepower" rather than a genuine combat upgrade. South Korean war veteran Jang Gil-seong, 83, watched from the Aegibong observatory just 0.8 miles away and said seeing the weapons in person made him realise "just how real the danger is."

The howitzers are 122-mm self-propelled systems with a 15-mile range, putting the South Korean town of Gimpo within striking distance.
