Detective raped by David Carrick demands Met chief Mark Rowley resign after force made her feel 'raped all over again'
Lawyers for the Met commissioner disputed the extent of DC Linda Williams' PTSD, arguing she had been raped on only one occasion. Williams, 60, of Hertfordshire, says the civil case brought her to the brink of suicide. The Met paid an undisclosed six-figure settlement without admitting liability. The former sexual offences officer says that if she were raped tomorrow, she would not report it.
Carrick raped Williams in 2004 and told her: 'It's what I do. I'm going to carry on.'
Williams says Rowley cannot turn around the Met's 'deeply sexist' culture.
The Met describes her ongoing dedication to public service, despite her trauma, as 'commendable'.
