Divers discover a 2,400-year-old Greek shipwreck carrying up to 650 ancient amphorae off the island of Andros

Greece's Ministry of Culture announced the find off Andros in the Cyclades after receiving a tip from a member of the public. Lying at depths of 128 to 144 feet, the wreck's cargo of pointed-base ceramic vessels has been dated to between the end of the fifth century and the beginning of the fourth century BC. Archaeologists identified three distinct amphora types and recovered a fragment of a lead anchor stock.
