DOJ says it has verified 20,000 noncitizens on California voter rolls and asks an appeals court to bar their ballots

Bill Essayli, first assistant US attorney for California's Central District, says all 20,000 people flagged as 'likely noncitizens' were mailed ballots this month. 'We believe it's at a minimum of 20,000. That's the floor,' he said. His office sued California last week to stop those ballots being counted. Essayli expects thousands more names to be added in the coming days.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin flagged nearly 200,000 California voters as possible noncitizens in July.
