Dolly Parton welcomes visitors to her new Nashville museum in a video recorded before her death

Dolly Parton's Life of Many Colours Museum has opened at the Song Teller Hotel in Nashville, with the country legend welcoming fans in a pre-recorded video filmed before she died last month aged 80 following a private battle with cancer. The museum opened as planned despite her passing, tracing her journey 'from rags to rhinestones, from Hollywood to Dollywood and from initial country music stardom to global acclaim.'

Parton told fans: 'It's Dolly, and I am so proud to invite you to my Life of Many Colours Museum.'

She described the attraction as 'the largest exhibit of my life and career, filled with the stories, songs, and memories I've carried.'

Parton added the museum includes 'all of the things that have helped this little girl's dream come true.'
