Dozens of Palestine Action supporters are arrested outside the US embassy in London ahead of a Supreme Court challenge
Police officers detain a person during a pro-Palestine demonstration on 7 October, as the Met confirmed it plans to arrest organisers of Saturday's rally, not merely placard carriers.
Protesters bearing placards reading 'I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action' were held by Metropolitan Police officers outside the US embassy in Battersea on Saturday. The demonstration was organised by campaign group Defend Our Juries. Palestine Action was proscribed under the Terrorism Act in June 2025, making any expression of support for it a criminal offence. Around 400 demonstrators were expected, with a second rally also planned at the US consulate in Edinburgh.
Met Commander Adam Slonecki warned that arrests would not be confined to sign-holders but would also extend to anyone providing logistical support.
The protest falls just days before a Supreme Court hearing on November 4 at which Palestine Action's designation as a terror group will be challenged.
Organisers say that since July 2025, when protests against the proscription began, upwards of 3,850 people have been arrested at demonstrations across Britain.
