Driver, 74, 'lost control' and crossed four lanes of traffic before the Georgia school bus carrying a football team flipped

Walter Hackett, of Conyers, was turning off Interstate 20 onto State Route 138 in Rockdale County at 10.48pm on Friday, Georgia State Patrol said. The bus ploughed into a Kia Soul driven by Calvin Harling, 35, spinning it 180 degrees. It then rolled almost a full rotation before landing on its side. Some 25 people were taken to hospital, and every student has been accounted for.

The Salem High School bus carried 17 players, seven trainers and two coaches.

One trainer was airlifted, and hospitals braced for a 'mass casualty event'.

One side of the bus roof collapsed completely in the crash.
