Elderly driver whose car crashed into Wolverhampton Lidl and killed a man is released from hospital as police seek witnesses

The driver — a woman in her 70s — is believed to have suffered a medical episode behind the wheel before her car smashed through the entrance of the Finchfield Hill store shortly before 6pm on Friday. West Midlands Police say officers will speak to her in due course. The man who died, in his 30s, was inside the shop at the time. Two people are still in hospital with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for dashcam footage and any sightings of a blue Renault Zoe in the moments before the crash.

Sergeant Chloe Collins called on drivers who were on Finchfield Hill between 5pm and 6pm to come forward.

Shopper Tina Bonev said: 'I saw the aisle flying into the air.'
