Simon Richardson, 35, of no fixed address, had 28 previous convictions for offences including drink driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance before he murdered Michael Mullins, 56, on 20 April. The court heard Richardson was also on bail for affray, actual bodily harm and cocaine possession at the time, and was caught on camera overtaking dangerously just moments before the fatal collision in Warburton, Greater Manchester.
Richardson's cousin Gabrielle Debotte, his front-seat passenger, shouted 'bike' three times because he 'wasn't stopping'.
Judge Mrs Justice Brunner told Richardson he had heard Mullins 'moaning for many minutes' and drove at speed for four-and-a-half minutes knowing the headteacher was conscious beneath him.
Michael's wife Sarah said her 'past, present, and future have been brutally and callously torn apart'; his son Harry called him his best friend.
