The Met Office issued a yellow fog warning for a broad area of England and Wales on Saturday morning, with some locations seeing visibility fall below 100 metres and certain patches lingering into the afternoon. The warning covered parts of the East and West Midlands, East of England, Yorkshire and Humber, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes, Cheshire, and four Welsh areas including Denbighshire and Wrexham.

Bus, train, flight and ferry services all faced potential disruption, with the Met Office urging travellers to check for updates.

The fog came after England's wettest week since October 2024, driven by Storms Austen and Boelo, which brought gusts of nearly 80mph to the Isle of Wight and left thousands of homes without power.

Despite the downpours, drought conditions remain officially in force across large parts of the country, with a severe drought still in place across parts of the South West and Sussex.
