A 25-year-old dual UK-Iranian national has been arrested in Westminster on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, making him the sixth person held in connection with the suspected plot against RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. Counter Terrorism Policing confirmed that two properties in the borough were also searched as part of the investigation. Netanyahu has claimed Israel warned the UK about an Iranian attack before the incident. Police say no explosive devices were found, but a quantity of petrol was discovered in vans near the airbase.

RAF Fairford has served as a base for US bombers after the UK gave Washington permission to operate from British soil for strikes on Tehran during the Middle East conflict.

Five British nationals, all in their mid-20s, were detained last weekend on suspicion of explosives and terrorism offences near the site and released on bail under investigation on Monday.

Counter-terrorism co-ordinator Vicki Evans warned the investigation is 'hugely complex' and that detectives are examining 'possible foreign state involvement'.
