DUP leader says next week's Budget could give Stormont a 'fighting chance' to end its funding impasse

Gavin Robinson hailed a 'sense of realism' in talks with Sir Chris Bryant, who insists there is no money beyond the £1.5 billion on the table. Stormont departments have run without a budget since April, capped at 95% of last year's spending. Sinn Féin president Mary-Lou McDonald warned London's offer 'still runs far short'. Hopes now rest on Barnett consequentials expected next Wednesday.

Emma Little-Pengelly accused the First Minister of 'recklessness and an abdication of her role'.

Bryant has hit out at 'irresponsible' overspending by Stormont ministers.

Bryant will meet the parties again after next week's UK Budget.
