DUP MP Carla Lockhart quits as party officer over strategy 'concerns' amid a rift with leader Gavin Robinson

Carla Lockhart refused to say she has confidence in DUP leader Gavin Robinson, replying only: 'I have confidence that the unionist people want action.' The Upper Bann MP wants Emma Little-Pengelly pulled from the executive, which would topple Michelle O'Neill. O'Neill joined an allegedly unlawful Garvaghy Road protest in Portadown. Police interviewed her in Belfast on Wednesday.

Lockhart says someone inside the DUP leaked her resignation to the media.

Robinson insists 'she remains a key part of our team' and hopes she stays.

Lockhart says the party's 'profound consequences' over Drumcree must come quicker.
