Dutch drug agency issues 'Red Alert' over potentially lethal Trump-shaped ecstasy pills found in the Netherlands

The moulded tablets, produced in green and yellow and bearing the words "Trump" and "NL," came to light after being submitted to Dutch drug-testing services.

The Trimbos Institute has warned festival-goers to steer clear of Trump-shaped ecstasy pills after lab tests revealed they contain PMMA, a dangerous substance that mimics MDMA's effects but acts far more slowly. The delayed onset means users may think the pill hasn't worked and take a second one, potentially with fatal results — the institute cautions that the drug "can lead to overheating with possibly deadly consequences." No deaths or serious injuries have been recorded so far, though authorities regard the alert as urgent.

The pills bear Trump's head on one side, with 'NL' and 'Trump' on the reverse; one is green and the other yellow.

Because PMMA takes longer to act than genuine MDMA, users risk accidentally doubling their dose, which can trigger deadly overheating.

This is not the first such scare: German police confiscated thousands of orange Trump tablets in 2017, and 'Trump NL' pills turned up at a UK music festival in 2018.
