EA is to shut Mass Effect maker BioWare and cancel a new game just two months after its $55bn Saudi-led takeover

Around 400 jobs are reportedly set to go across EA, about 3% of its staff, including roughly 50 at BioWare's studio in Edmonton, Canada. The closure would end the developer behind the 'Dragon Age' role-playing franchise. EA broke the news to employees in an email on Wednesday. The publisher says it will now chase fewer large-scale action-adventure games.

The $55bn buyout was led by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and closed in August.

Work will continue on 'Marvel's Iron Man' and the next 'Star Wars Jedi' game.

The team behind skateboarding game 'skate.' is being shrunk into a smaller studio.
