Earl Spencer warns royal wives face a 'very specific' struggle as he doubles down on 'gaslighting' claim against King Charles

Earl Spencer, 62, has escalated his feud with King Charles, warning that women who marry into the royal family face a "very specific" struggle while doubling down on his accusation that the King "gaslit" him over the Palace's rebuttal to his memoir 'Swan Song: Diana, My Sister'. Speaking to former editor Tina Brown at a New York book event, Spencer had branded the Palace's statement "very aggressive" and noted the King had chosen neither to deny the claims nor stay silent. Spencer's book alleges Charles behaved "like a lottery winner" and told him Diana would be forgotten "soon enough" before her sons walked behind her coffin.

The Palace's rare public pushback said 'fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory'.

Spencer's warning that royal wives face a 'very specific' struggle deepens his broader critique of the institution beyond his personal grievance with the King.
