EasyJet pilots warn jobs at risk for just a year as City advisers pocket £335m in fees from Apollo takeover

Pilots at easyJet have sounded the alarm over job security after takeover documents revealed their positions are guaranteed for only 12 months following the £5.7 billion sale to US private equity giant Apollo Global Management. The British Airline Pilots' Association, representing 4,000 easyJet pilots, demanded 'greater clarity' on workforce plans, pensions and operational strategy before the deal is rubber-stamped by investors on 9 November. Apollo is set to take easyJet off the London stock market in what critics will see as yet another British firm surrendering to American ownership.
EasyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, whose family owns 15.3 per cent of the airline, has backed the sale despite the workforce concerns.
