Ed Davey rules out a national pact with the Greens over 'Zionism is racism' policy but stops short of ditching council deals

Green members voted 1,022 to 813 at their Brighton conference on 4 October to declare Zionism a form of racism. Sir Ed Davey branded it 'deeply offensive and antisemitic' in a letter to Keith Black of the Jewish Leadership Council and Phil Rosenberg of the Board of Deputies. Labour has vowed to end council deals with Greens who back it. Jewish leaders say they 'await confirmation' on Lib Dem local arrangements.

Andy Burnham told PMQs: 'This side of the House will have nothing to do with it.'

Four of the five Green MPs and former leader Caroline Lucas opposed the motion.

Green leader Zack Polanski didn't vote, having left early to campaign in a by-election.
