Edinburgh Zoo asks the public to name its newborn capybara triplets, with Tunnock and Still Game options on the shortlist

Edinburgh Zoo has launched a public vote to name three capybara pups born overnight last Wednesday to parents Luna and Rodney, with five shortlists offering names drawn from Scottish culture, geography and space exploration. Vets this week confirmed the week-old triplets are two boys and one girl after weighing and microchipping them.

The five name sets include Still Game characters Jack, Victor and Isa, and food-themed Tattie, Tunnock and Toddy to pair with older sibling Bru.

Bru, born in May, was the first capybara born in Scotland in 18 years and went viral — keepers say he is 'a little grumpy' about sharing the spotlight.

Head of animal care Darren McGarry says staff are confident Bru 'will be best buds with his siblings once he settles'.
