Educating Cardiff teacher walks FREE after sexually assaulting a girl, 17, who told him she was a 'good girl'
Arwyn Davies, who appeared in Channel 4's Educating Cardiff, the documentary series that also featured Gareth Ritter, the assistant head who changed his guilty plea mid-trial after initially denying a 2015 sexual assault.
Gareth Ritter, 44, a former assistant head and music teacher at Cardiff's Willows High School, was sentenced to 33 months imprisonment suspended for 30 months after pleading guilty mid-trial to sexually assaulting the 17-year-old in his Cardiff Bay flat in June 2015. The assault only came to light when police investigating an unrelated incident found indecent images of the girl on Ritter's phone and tablet, prompting her to come forward.
Ritter, four-time Welsh Conductor of the Year, lured the teen inside by claiming he needed to check the flat ahead of a new tenant moving in.
The judge called it 'a cruel assault on a young woman by an older man who had isolated her in that flat for his own sexual satisfaction.'
After the attack, Ritter drove the girl home repeatedly asking 'Nobody needs to know about this — are you going to tell anyone?'
