El Salvador's Bukele launches a military operation to rescue four aviation technicians who were kidnapped by gangs in Haiti

The four Salvadorans were ambushed on Sunday afternoon while driving back to base from a supermarket in Croix-des-Bouquets, a gang stronghold outside Haiti's capital. Explosives hit their armoured SUV and set it ablaze, but the men escaped. Nobody has heard from them since. They serve in the UN-backed Gang Suppression Force, which aims to wrest control of Haiti from the gangs.

In a Creole message to gang leaders, Nayib Bukele warned: we are coming for you.

Bukele said the men are medevac pilots and technicians, 'not to wage war'.

Bukele is reportedly in talks to send more troops to help with the rescue.
