Electronic Arts is to close BioWare, the studio behind Mass Effect and Dragon Age, and reportedly cut about 400 jobs

The next Mass Effect game is dead, and it will not move forward. About 50 of the roughly 400 cuts fall at BioWare itself, around 3 percent of EA's workforce. Work on Project Lotus, a Sims title, is paused and the Skate team is being reduced. EA is protecting EA Sports, Battlefield, Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi and Marvel's Iron Man instead.

BioWare confirmed its own closure in a statement posted on social media.

EA's staff memo spoke of 'what it will take to lead in this next era'.

BioWare is the latest in a string of EA studio closures dating back to the 1980s.
