Eleven more Illinois counties are set to vote on quitting Chicago after ALL 33 earlier polls backed a breakaway state

Governor JB Pritzker has dismissed the separation referenda as a stunt, but organisers insist the movement is gaining momentum. 'We are ignored,' says Loret Newlin, director of Illinois Separation. Residents outside Cook County blame Chicago for crime, Democratic rule and its grip on state politics. The new votes will take place in the upcoming midterm election.
Iroquois County, about 70 miles from Cook County, backed separation with 73 percent.
Madison County organiser Dave Stopher says the governor is 'pooh-poohing us'.
A new state would need approval from both the Illinois General Assembly and Congress.
