Ellen DeGeneres sobs in tribute to her Ellen Show producer Matthew Wright, who died aged 52 in an 'unfathomable tragedy'

Matthew Wright, 52, died on 30 October while working remotely in Los Angeles, with his family launching a GoFundMe describing the circumstances as an 'unfathomable tragedy' and revealing both he and his husband Justin Fusella had been laid off over the summer. DeGeneres, who donated $5,000 to the fundraiser, called Wright 'the glue to our entire family at the Ellen Show' and said she and he had been collaborating on a new project at the time of his death.
The GoFundMe, which has already raised over $74,000, will cover travel and funeral costs, with any surplus going into a trust for his niece Sami.
DeGeneres tearfully compared Wright's death to that of DJ Stephen 'Twitch' Boss, who died by suicide in 2022, saying: 'Now he and Twitch are together, dancing and laughing.'
Ellen Show regular Kalen Allen, 30, paid tribute, recalling their friendship beyond the show: 'What made Matt so special had nothing to do with who he worked with — it was how he treated people.'
