Elon Musk unveils Tesla Roadster with SpaceX rocket thrusters that can fly, flip and hit 60mph in UNDER A SECOND
A Tesla Roadster prototype, which the company first showed in 2017 after promising deliveries by 2020 — a launch that never came.
Elon Musk revealed the long-awaited Tesla Roadster 2 at SpaceX's test facility in McGregor, Texas on Thursday night, claiming it is the world's first flying car. The two-seater drove upside down on a curved ramp using suction and cold-gas thrusters before flipping in mid-air, landing safely and leaping over a row of vehicles. Musk promised production will begin in 2028 and the car will be priced above $200,000.
Musk boasted it would 'crush every track record that has ever existed' and that it 'can do rolls, crazy gymnastics — whatever you want.'
Some analysts saw the SpaceX collaboration as Musk softening up investors for an eventual Tesla-SpaceX merger.
