Elon Musk 'was responsible' for the Starlink slowdown that hit Ukraine's drone defences, sources claim, despite publicly blaming Trump
President Donald Trump reportedly 'agreed' to the plan to impose speed restrictions on Starshield — the system's military variant, which Ukraine relies on to intercept Russian drones and missiles. 'The reality is that they were both in it,' one person familiar with the matter said. Two Ukrainian sources and a senior European official reportedly corroborate that account. Musk maintained on Wednesday that any such change required Pentagon approval.
The throttling took place while Trump was publicly criticising Volodymyr Zelenskyy over Ukraine's drone strikes on Russian oil refineries.
Four Republican senators joined five Democrats in calling on the Pentagon's inspector general to open an investigation.
The senators said US personnel in Ukraine were unable to reach bunkers during Russian air raids.
