Pakistan head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed had hoped to keep the target below 350, but the surface itself is now working against his side.

Harry Brook contributed 34 from 56 balls, showing uncharacteristic restraint in difficult batting conditions as England's middle order grafted against a probing Pakistan attack.

The Lord's pitch has already been rated unsatisfactory by the ICC after the New Zealand Test, and Saturday's play did nothing to ease growing concerns about its behaviour.
