'Consequences will never end': family of toddler who fell to his death from Cyprus hotel window speaks out after father is fined £2,500

Joshua Foster, 37, a KPMG director from Essex, was handed a €3,000 (£2,500) fine at Paphos District Court on Friday after pleading guilty to causing the death of his two-year-old son, who fell nearly 40ft from a fourth-floor hotel window in Cyprus. The judge ruled that jail was not appropriate, telling Foster he would 'have guilt for the rest of his life'. Foster had placed the toddler on a windowsill to show him a waterpark view, not realising the window was open.

Foster told reporters outside court: 'I'm looking forward to going home and being with my wife and daughter.'

His lawyer Alexandros Alexandrou said the case should have 'never gone to court', arguing Foster had been denied the chance to grieve as he wanted for three months.

The boy suffered multiple skull and bone fractures and damage to his vital organs, and was pronounced dead in hospital hours after the fall on July 12, the first day of the family's holiday.
