'Even Labour agrees the tax burden's too high': small business chief demands relief before Wednesday's Budget

Craig Beaumont, executive director of the Federation of Small Businesses, warns the tax burden will hit its highest level since 1948 by 2028. He compares the moment to Stafford Cripps, calling him 'one of the least successful chancellors'. Beaumont has lobbied both Chancellor John Healey and the Prime Minister in Downing Street. Healey has promised a Budget for 'white van man'.

Beaumont wants Small Business Rate Relief raised from £12,000 to £25,000.
