Players wore black armbands and supporters stood at the three-minute mark during Saturday's fixture between Everton and Ipswich Town at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Liverpool, in tribute to Noah Woods, the three-year-old found dead in a Suffolk lake after disappearing on Tuesday. Noah's photograph was shown on the big screen as more than 6,000 donors drove a fundraising page past £100,000 by Saturday evening. Ipswich defender Leif Davis, who joined the search before Noah's body was recovered, contributed £2,000 to the family appeal.
Noah, who was non-verbal and partially deaf and was being assessed for autism, disappeared following a visit to a Brantham playground; roughly 1,300 members of the public joined the search effort.
Met Police divers recovered Noah's body from a lake locally known as Decoy Pond on Wednesday; Suffolk Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
His father Rhys Woods wrote: 'Noah was the sweetest and most innocent little boy, with nothing but love to give, and we are going to miss him so very much.'
