Ex-Chicago FBI chief sues the Trump administration, claiming he was made a 'scapegoat' for the collapsed case against anti-ICE protesters

Douglas DePodesta, who led the FBI's Chicago field office for nearly two years, filed suit against the Justice Department, FBI director Kash Patel and Trump's top officials, alleging he was unlawfully pushed out after a federal prosecutor tried to pin the collapse of the 'Broadview Six' case on him. DePodesta says he was made a convenient scapegoat when felony charges against six anti-ICE protesters fell apart, costing him his career.

The 'Broadview Six' were protesters who opposed the federal immigration crackdown, and their prosecution collapsed before trial.

DePodesta says he was pressured to investigate Trump's political opponents before being forced to resign.

His suit names Trump, Patel and senior DOJ officials, calling the entire episode 'politically motivated'.
