Jesse Baird's mother Helen broke down in tears on the witness stand as a jury at the NSW Supreme Court heard CCTV audio of the three shots that killed her son and his partner Luke Davies. Defence barrister John Stratton SC told the court Lamarre-Condon disguised himself as an Uber Eats delivery rider to retrieve belongings from Baird's Paddington terrace, sparking a struggle during which he claims Baird was shot and Davies accidentally shot himself. Crown prosecutor Brett Hatfield SC told the jury the first bullet struck Baird in the neck, the second in the temple, and the third went into Davies's head.
Helen Baird testified her son had told her Lamarre-Condon had become 'obsessive' and was stealing his phone and deleting contacts.
Lamarre-Condon allegedly faked a cancer diagnosis — pretending to be a friend — to win Baird back after their split.
The bodies of Baird, 26, and Davies, 29, were found stuffed in surfboard bags at Bungonia, 185km from Sydney, eight days after the shootings.
