Ex-SAS commander brands Princess Kate's Irish Guards 'unarmed Teletubbies' after their Downing Street honour guard for Zelensky

Former SAS commander Richard Williams mocked the soldiers' 'ill-fitting playground uniforms' and called them 'pseudo soldiers used as decorations'. He shared a picture online, saying they were the 'very opposite of martial excellence'. Irish Guards commanding officer Lt Col Ben Irwin-Clark hit back, telling critics to 'give your heads a wobble'. The attack has reportedly enraged Army chief General Sir Roly Walker.

The 11-strong guard welcomed Zelensky to Number 10 for talks with Andy Burnham.

General Walker was himself commissioned into the Irish Guards before joining the SAS.

Kate's role as Colonel is symbolic; she took it over from Prince William in 2022.
