Explosion sparks huge fire at Quaker Oats plant in Iowa, the world's largest oat mill, but NO ONE is hurt
Mayor Tiffany O'Donnell said the blast struck a product-handling area 'not heavily populated' with staff, calling it 'a blessing'. Every worker was accounted for within 45 minutes of crews arriving in Cedar Rapids at 4.45pm. Owner PepsiCo Foods US says the cause will be investigated.
The plant mills over 2 million pounds of oats every single day.
Senator Chuck Grassley said he was 'praying' for those inside and the responders.
Local man Dan Gardner said: 'Quaker Oats is a staple of this town.'
