'Overcome all the hate': Fallon Sherrock hits back at critics after beating Luke Littler to win £501,000 on Netflix
Fallon Sherrock's young son Rory ran on stage to embrace her in tears after she sealed the £501,000 win with a double-20 checkout.
Fallon Sherrock, 32, made history as the first female player to defeat world No.1 Luke Littler, taking home £501,000 — a prize surpassed only once in the sport — during a live Netflix broadcast at Manchester Central on Friday night. The fifteenth of 20 challengers to face the double world champion, she sealed the win with a double-20 checkout, after which her young son Rory rushed on stage and embraced her in tears.
Sherrock entered as an 'amateur' on the basis that she holds no PDC Tour Card — though critics contended the event was designed for pub players, not a woman who had reached the third round of the PDC World Championship.
Phil Taylor described the win as 'life-changing' and said she can 'buy herself a nice little house now', while PDC president Barry Hearn responded: 'Do you want just a series of 20 matches where someone can't even throw a dart?'
Sherrock intends to use the £501,000 for her son's benefit, admitting: 'I feel like people think I have more money than I have, and I really haven't.'
