Family pay tribute to 'much-loved' mum as woman, 26, is arrested in murder probe after Bridgend car crash death
A heartbroken family has paid tribute to a "much-loved" mother, as a woman aged 26 has been arrested in connection with the murder inquiry that followed the death of a 47-year-old driver in Bridgend. The 47-year-old, from North Cornelly, hit a wall on Coity Road at 12:43pm on Monday and died in hospital; formal identification has yet to take place. Armed officers and drones had surrounded Ger-y-Nant, a 13-flat sheltered housing complex for over-60s, leading to the earlier arrest of a man, 61.
Residents were forced from their homes overnight and told to 'sign in and out'.
Ch Supt Jason Rees called it a 'deeply distressing incident' and said there were no further injuries.
Neighbour Darren Owen, who saw teams climbing onto the roof and a man led out at about 1am, said the retirement home 'was last place I expected to see armed police'.
