Family pay tribute to Royal Navy veteran who was killed in an M27 crash with a grandchild on the way

Richard Skilton, 66, a Gosport father-of-five who served a full career in the Royal Navy, died at the scene of an M27 collision on 16 October. The crash, on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 11 and 12, involved his Triumph motorcycle, which was black and white. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary are urging anyone with information to call 101, quoting reference 44260508127.

Skilton is survived by ten grandchildren, with an eleventh on the way whom he will never get to meet.

His family called him a 'devoted husband' who 'will be remembered for his love of family, his naval service and the memories he leaves behind.'

The M27 eastbound was closed between junctions 9 and 12 for several hours following the fatal crash.
