Famous shark that drew 1.6 million visitors swims BACK into South Korean canal hours after being freed

Bukangi, a female dusky shark, dived beneath an outer net and slipped under a floating pontoon about five hours after Wednesday's operation ended. She is now circling a patch of water roughly 30m by 30m between two barriers at the mouth of the canal in Busan. Officials began a fresh attempt to steer her out on Thursday morning. Experts fear she may not survive the colder water expected by mid-November.

Hundreds of fans cheered and waved her off, unaware she would soon swim back.

President Lee Jae Myung visited, and a local distillery released a commemorative soju bottle.
