'Far-left activist' ALREADY on a French security watchlist is arrested over arson that destroyed historic Limoges town hall

Elite RAID counter-terror officers seized Hodei Ciarra Docampo, 34, in a dawn raid at Val d'Issoire, 30 miles from Limoges. He has a record for attacking police and faces up to 20 years in jail. The 1883 building's clock tower collapsed during Saturday's riots. Mayor Guillaume Guérin said police had 'run out of ammunition' by 3.30pm and retreated.

Guérin is threatening to quit unless the government funds a Notre-Dame-style rebuild.

His father, a prolific Basque activist, was sentenced in 2025 over a 2020 arson.

Almost 150 people arrested in the weekend riots have already been convicted and jailed.
