Loïk Le Priol, 32, a former soldier with links to a now-dissolved far-right extremist group, was sentenced to 26 years in jail by a Paris court for the 2022 drive-by murder of Argentine rugby international Federico Martín Aramburu. His accomplice Romain Bouvier, 35, received 19 years for attempted murder. Both men were cleared of premeditation. Le Priol's then-girlfriend Lyson Rochemir was given a six-month term plus a suspended sentence for concealment and destroying evidence.

Aramburu, 42, was gunned down after a bar brawl near Boulevard Saint-Germain; neither he nor friend Shaun Hegarty was armed.

Le Priol begged the family for forgiveness in court, saying: 'I hope one day you can find the strength to forgive me.'

Le Priol was arrested in Hungary while trying to cross into Ukraine, telling police he was going there to fight.
