Andy Burnham calls for an 'honest discussion' on returning to EU free movement as Farage brands it 'total betrayal'
Prime Minister Andy Burnham claimed EU-era migration was 'different', describing 'revolving door' arrivals of younger people who went home after a few years. Nigel Farage called that claim 'deluded' and vowed: 'We will fight this dishonesty.' Shadow home secretary Chris Philp insisted there could be 'no return' to free movement. Burnham will meet EU chiefs at a Brussels summit on November 20.
Labour's 2024 manifesto ruled out free movement, single market membership and a customs union.
Burnham has said an in-out EU referendum in Labour's next manifesto is 'possible'.
He complained Britain lost access to Eurodac, the EU's biometric migration database.
