Farage privately rebuked his former adviser over the 'Nigerian scammer' jibe at Kemi Badenoch despite refusing to call it racist

Nigel Farage privately rebuked Raheem Kassam after the former UKIP chief of staff called Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch a "Nigerian scammer" on X — but on BBC Breakfast refused to condemn the remarks as racist, saying Kassam was "of Indian heritage" and adding "you tell me" when pressed. Conservative chairman Kevin Hollinrake accused Kassam of "launching racist slurs" and demanded Farage come clean about Kassam's ties to Reform.
Robert Jenrick, repeatedly pressed on Kassam's Reform role, dismissed him as "a random journalist" with no such position.
Kassam's posts also asked whether Badenoch was "a walking gaffe or an illegal immigrant" and used her full Nigerian birth name.
Farage eventually conceded the comment was "over the top" but insisted it was not "intentionally racist."
