Farage warns MPs are under more threat than EVER on fifth anniversary of Sir David Amess's murder

Katie Amess told the BBC her father's legacy "is one of love" and that she misses him terribly, five years after Islamic State fanatic Ali Harbi Ali stabbed the Southend West MP to death at a constituency surgery in Leigh-on-Sea. Farage, speaking in Chelmsford on Thursday, warned there is now "a deep intolerance that has crept into public debate — thuggery, intimidation, violence and even terrorism." Ali had been referred to the Prevent anti-radicalisation scheme seven years before the murder, but his case was closed after a single meeting in 2016.
Ali Harbi Ali was convicted in 2022 and handed a whole-life order for murder and preparation of terrorist acts.
Katie Amess said she felt her father's spirit urging her to keep pushing for answers, adding: 'I just try and remember him for the good that he did in the world.'
