Anthony Carroll Sr, 57, of Glasgow's Milton area, was handed four and a half years after directing the counting, storing and distributing of nearly £20 million in dirty cash in just five months in 2020, with the court hearing the money was largely cocaine, heroin and cannabis payments. His son Anthony Carroll Jr, 37, received three years alongside three associates caught after police cracked the EncroChat encrypted phone network.

Judge Lord Scott told all five they had 'knowingly for months' taken part in 'a significant organised crime operation.'

Ryan Carberry, 46, of Kirkintilloch, got three years and three months; Marc Cooper, 34, two years and nine months; Michael Monaghan, 37, three years.

All five were handed serious crime prevention orders of up to five years on top of their prison sentences.
