Father who killed Oregon school gunman apologises to grieving parents for 'not saving their babies'

Kaylub Giamanco, a 36-year-old carpenter, was only passing Silver Rail Elementary in Bend because he had gone home to eat lunch with his wife. He told a 911 dispatcher 'I have to go in. People are going to die' before army-crawling after the gunman. Griffin J John II, 16, killed teacher Megan Lambert, 25, and three boys, including Rhoam Summer, five. Giamanco says he still hears 'screams'.

A teacher was wrestling the gunman when Giamanco burst into the special needs classroom.

He fired twice more when the fallen gunman reached for his weapon.

President Trump hailed him as 'a great hero that went in and did the business'.
